Poem: Nowhere Man
By Dr. Archan Mehta
No person knew his title.
He was the invisible man.
No person was interested by his recreation.
He by no means shot to fame
And lived alone.
He was usually stoned
And, typically, useless drunk
And he cried within the
Nighttime.
There was no one
To wipe away his tears
Or supply to purchase him a
Bottle of beer within the native bar.
He usually left his door ajar,
Eager for firm.
In his final days,
He usually spoke of residence
And, when he died,
He was deposited, like
Cash in a financial institution, in
An unmarked grave:
No person attended his funeral.
No person spoke about him
And even remembered him:
He was a
Statistic—faceless and anonymous:
You realize what?
It was virtually as if
This blue-collar and
Working-class janitor
By no means existed.
